Two-Piece Set Sewing Patterns to Produce in Series — page 2 of 2
A set is cut, quoted, and sold as a pair: two garments that have to come from the same fabric lot and fit well together. The catalog brings together activewear sets of a jacket or sweatshirt with joggers, sets of a t-shirt, top, or tank top with shorts, leggings, or a skirt, tailored sets, and some work scrubs, with a complete size range to produce in batches.
The Modeltex catalog has 78 two-piece set sewing patterns (29 for women, 16 for girls, 14 for boys, 10 for men, 5 for unisex kids, 3 for babies, 1 for unisex adults), all approved with a sewn sample and with the size range available on each product page; the most affordable PDF starts at US$23 with the standard size selection.
Activewear sets, two-piece sets, and scrubs in the catalog
There are activewear sets with a hooded jacket and joggers, a sweatshirt and joggers with stripes or a pocket, a hoodie and joggers in velvet, an oversize t-shirt and shorts, a top and shorts, and a tank top and leggings. There are also top-and-skirt sets, tailored sets of a blazer or vest with shorts or pants, a long-sleeve thermal set, and scrubs with a jacket and joggers. Most are for women, girls, and boys, and there are some for men and babies.
How to produce a set: fabric, dye lot, and mixed sizes
Cut both garments of a set from the same fabric and dye lot, because two different lots show when the pieces are side by side. Placing both patterns on one marker uses fabric better than cutting them separately. Many customers wear one size on top and another on the bottom, so decide whether you sell by set or by garment and cost accordingly. If the pants have an elastic waist or a drawstring, test the sample with the final elastic and fabric, because the fit changes.
Print, color, and reordering sets
In activewear or printed sets, the design has to continue from one garment to the other: define the print direction before laying out the marker, and keep the color code and the fabric lot so you can match the shade in the next batch. On work scrubs the embroidery goes on the chest and is positioned size by size on the tech pack. The uniforms guide explains how to quote by batch.
Common fabrics for two-piece sets: cotton fleece, French terry, gabardine, microfiber, athletic spandex, cotton jersey.

Frequently asked questions about two-piece set sewing patterns
What should you produce first: sets or separate garments?
Sets raise the average order value but need more fabric stock per unit and a single color lot. If you don't yet know which size sells most, start with separate garments from the same line and build the set later. The patterns come with the complete size range for each piece, so you can sell the two garments together or separately.
How do you cost a two-piece set?
Add up the cost of each garment, with fabric, trims, cutting, and sewing, plus personalization, packaging, and waste, and then the margin. If you sell top and bottom separately, calculate each garment on its own. The costing guide has the step-by-step for building a unit cost.
Can a set be sold with different sizes on top and bottom?
Yes, and it is common in activewear and sets, because many customers don't wear the same size on top and bottom. The patterns come with the complete size range for each piece, so you can sell the two garments in mixed sizes. Define this in your sales policy and on your product page to avoid being left with fabric you can't sell.
What are scrubs, and does the catalog include them?
Scrubs are a two-piece set, a tunic or polo-style top with a V-neck plus pants, widely used in workwear and healthcare. The catalog has a few styles, such as V-neck scrubs and scrubs with a jacket and joggers. For uniforms in series, see the uniform sewing patterns page too.
