Bikini and Swimsuit Sewing Patterns for Women, Ready to Produce

Bikinis and swimsuits are built from small pieces and demand precision: the elastic, the lining, and the stretch of the spandex decide the fit more than any later adjustment. The patterns in the catalog cover triangle, high-rise, and one-shoulder bikinis and one-piece swimsuits, all for women, with an adult size range and a sewn sample.

The Modeltex catalog has 26 bikini sewing patterns (25 for women, 1 for girls), all approved with a sewn sample and with the size range available on each product page; the most affordable PDF starts at US$23 with the standard size selection.

Bikinis and one-piece swimsuits produced in series

There are triangle bikinis with ties, knotted straps, or adjustable straps, with high-rise bottoms, one-shoulder styles, puff sleeves, mesh panels, fringe, and contrast piping. Among the one-piece swimsuits there are halter, low-back, ruffled, mesh-cutout, and deep-neckline styles with a ring. All are for women. The pieces are tiny: a pattern fits on just a few A4 sheets, which is enough to test the sample before moving to a plotter.

Spandex, lining, and elastic: workshop decisions for a bikini

Swimwear is sewn in nylon or polyester spandex fabric that stretches in both directions. The pattern is drawn with negative ease: the garment measures less than the body and the fabric closes the gap, so don't swap in a less stretchy spandex without testing. Bottoms and cups are usually lined, which also prevents see-through in light or wet fabric. The edges take elastic sewn with a stretch stitch, such as zigzag, overlock, or coverstitch, with a ballpoint needle.

Common mistakes when producing bikinis and swimsuits

If the bikini is sublimation-printed, the base has to be polyester and the panels are printed before cutting; for that, the pattern is available as a vector file (DXF) on request.

Frequently asked questions about bikini sewing patterns

What fabric is used to produce bikinis and swimsuits?

Nylon or polyester spandex fabric, which stretches in both directions and recovers its shape. Nylon is softer and polyester tends to resist chlorine better; both are used with a lining in the bottoms and cups. If it will be sublimated, the base has to be polyester. Ask the supplier for the stretch figure so you can adjust the elastic.

What elastic does a bikini take?

Swimwear elastic on the edges of the bottoms and around the cups, sewn to the fabric and stretched evenly. Adjustable straps add sliders or rings, and tied straps are made from the same spandex. Before cutting the run, measure how much the roll stretches and only then set the elastic length for each size.

What is the difference between a bikini pattern and a one-piece swimsuit pattern?

A bikini is two pieces that can be sold in different sizes on top and bottom. A one-piece swimsuit is a single garment where torso length governs, just as in a bodysuit, and it often has cutouts and openings that complicate the marker. Each one is quoted and tested separately.

Can a bikini be sublimated?

Yes, if the fabric is polyester with spandex: sublimation only fixes on polyester, not on nylon. The panels are printed with the pattern outline before cutting, and since heat shrinks the fabric slightly, you have to compensate for it. The sublimation patterns guide explains bleed and marks.
