Free sewing patterns: download free PDF patterns and print them
We publish real sewing patterns from our catalog as free downloads, in print-ready PDF: the same finish quality, sizes and care as the paid patterns. Download them, print them and see how we work before making your first purchase.
Go to the Free Sewing Patterns section (some download without an account; others require a free account). We add new patterns regularly, usually every week.
Free sewing patterns: free PDF patterns to download and print
Free sewing patterns are real clothing patterns that you download as a free PDF and print yourself at true size. Modeltex publishes them from its own catalog, so each one is the same digital patternmaking we sell, not a sample version or a cut-down pattern: it comes with all its pieces, its size range and a test square to check the scale.
Free PDF patterns download the same way as the paid ones, and each one works as a printable template for the garment: the A4 PDF prints on any home or office printer and you tape the numbered sheets together, while the plotter PDF is a single sheet at true width for a plotting print shop. The printing help guide walks you through it step by step.
- Open the free sewing patterns section and choose the pattern you want.
- Pick the file you need: A4 PDF to print at home, or plotter PDF to print at a plotting print shop.
- Download the PDF. Some files download without an account; others ask for a free Modeltex account.
- Print at 100% scale, never "fit to page", and measure the test square with a ruler to confirm the size.
- Tape the A4 sheets together following their numbering, then cut your fabric.
Free PDF sewing patterns download (full-scale)
Every free pattern downloads as a full-scale PDF: it prints at true size, with a test square to confirm the scale before you cut.
Free printable clothing patterns for A4 and US Letter paper
The A4 PDF is split into numbered sheets that print on any home or office printer and are taped together. It can also be printed on US Letter paper as long as the scale stays at 100%: only the number of sheets changes.
Free multi-size graded garment patterns
Free patterns come with the size range already graded, for example XS to 5XL on a women's top, so you choose the sizes you need. The range changes from one pattern to another and is shown on each pattern page.
Free wide-format plotter sewing patterns
Some free patterns also come as a plotter PDF: a single sheet at true width that you print at a plotting print shop, with no sheets to tape together.
Free CAD apparel pattern samples for workshops and factories
Some free patterns include an Optitex marker (MRK) and an editable CDR file next to the PDFs, so a workshop can check how the files open in its CAD system before buying. DXF/AAMA, Optitex PDS and Audaces ADS versions of the catalog patterns are available on request through WhatsApp.
Free women's top and dress sewing patterns in PDF
The free selection rotates and includes, among others, women's tops, dresses, shorts and t-shirts, all of them real catalog patterns with their size range.
Free commercial-use sewing patterns for clothing brands
The production-use license lets you sew and sell the garments in unlimited quantities, for your own clothing brand or for third parties. The pattern files themselves cannot be resold or redistributed.
What a free sewing pattern includes
- The complete pattern, with all its pieces: it is not a partial version or a cutout.
- Its size range, just like a paid pattern.
- A test square to check the print.
- Production-use license: you can manufacture and sell the garments with no limit on units.
After trying the free pattern
If it worked for you, the full catalog has more than 2,000 sewing patterns and can be searched by garment, category, season and format. To learn the craft, there is the free patternmaking course, and to understand which format suits the way you cut, see digital patternmaking.

How do I download a free PDF sewing pattern?
Open the free sewing patterns section, choose a pattern and download its PDF: A4 to print at home, or plotter for a plotting print shop. Some files need no account and others ask for a free Modeltex account. Print at 100% scale (never "fit to page"), measure the test square with a ruler to confirm the size, tape the A4 sheets together following their numbering and cut your fabric.
Are the free patterns printable templates I can print at home?
Yes. Each free pattern is a printable template of a garment at true size. The A4 PDF prints on any home or office printer and the numbered sheets are taped together; the plotter PDF is a single sheet at true width, printed at a plotting print shop. The test square lets you check the print before you cut.
What kind of free sewing patterns does Modeltex offer?
Real clothing patterns from the Modeltex catalog, such as shorts, tops, dresses and t-shirts, as free PDF downloads. The free selection rotates, so new patterns appear regularly.
How do I print a full-scale PDF sewing pattern at 100% scale?
Open the PDF and set the printer to 100% (actual size), never "fit to page" or "shrink to printable area". Print the test square page first and measure it with a ruler; only if it matches the stated size, print the rest and tape the sheets together following their numbering. The printing help guide explains it step by step.
Where can I download free industrial garment patterns to test fit and grading?
On this page. The free patterns are real Modeltex catalog patterns, approved with a sewn sample and with their size range graded, so you can check the fit, the finish and the grading in your own workshop before buying in quantity.
Are the free sewing patterns graded in multiple sizes?
Yes. Free patterns come with the size range already graded, for example XS to 5XL on a women's top, so you choose the sizes you need. The range changes from one pattern to another and is shown on each pattern page.
Are there free wide-format plotter sewing patterns?
Yes, some free patterns include a plotter PDF: a single sheet at true width that you print at a plotting print shop at 100% scale, with no sheets to tape together. Each pattern page lists the files it includes.
Do the free patterns include CAD files for Optitex or Audaces?
Some do: certain free patterns include an Optitex marker (MRK) and an editable CDR file next to the A4 and plotter PDFs, so you can check how they open in your CAD system. DXF/AAMA, Optitex PDS and Audaces ADS versions of the catalog patterns are available on request through WhatsApp, with the full size range.
Are the free patterns real patterns or just samples?
They are real catalog patterns, not cut-down or sample versions: the same level of finish, sizes and polish as the paid patterns.
Do the free patterns come as print-ready PDFs?
Yes, they are delivered as PDF, ready to print on A4 or plotter depending on the pattern, with the same control square that paid patterns include to check that the print did not lose scale.
Are the free PDF patterns complete or only part of the pattern?
They are the complete pattern, with all its pieces and its size range, just like a paid pattern: not a partial version or a cut-down file.
Can I use a free pattern to produce and sell clothing?
Yes, free sewing patterns can be used commercially: they have the same productive-use license as paid patterns, so a clothing brand can sew and sell the garments in unlimited quantities. What is not allowed is reselling or redistributing the pattern file.
